Norad celebrates 35th birthday in style

Norad Travel Group, the Hampshire-based travel agency, celebrated thirty-five years serving its corporate and leisure travel customers at its largest ever annual conference, held at Tylney Hall Hotel near Basingstoke on 07 May.
All Norad staff attended the weekend event, in which Chairman Mick Gibbs and Group Managing Director Linda Foote outlined an exciting and ambitious development path for the business, which has in recent years extended its influence into the leisure travel sector, via the acquisition of holiday specialists Howard Travel in Trowbridge and Erne Travel in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
The speaking platform featured Industry heavyweights including Paul Wait, Chief Executive of the Guild of Travel Management Companies [GTMC] and Eric Hallerberg, Managing Director UK for Sabre Corporation, who both shared their unique perspectives on the future challenges facing the travel industry in an increasingly fluid environment.
The conference concluded with the Annual Awards, and announcing the winners of the first Norad Values Awards, Linda Foote said ‘Our company values of Excellence, Integrity and Innovation are absolutely central to our performance and our success, so we are delighted to recognise the contribution of our people in living up to these values every day.‘ Awards were presented to Paige Knight of Howard Travel for Excellence, and David Harkness of Norad Travel Management for Integrity, whilst data specialist Jill Parker received the Innovation award for her initiative in developing enhanced data security processes.
Chairman Mick Gibbs was delighted with the results of the conference, which concluded with an evening party hosted by Travel 2, one of the two headline sponsors of the conference alongside Sabre. ’This is a milestone for Norad,’ he stated, ‘After 35 years of success we are now crossing the threshold into a new growth phase, and in order to continue our impressive progress we must all get even better at what we are already very good at indeed. So it’s truly energising to see our people so engaged with our vision and plans, and be exposed to the likes of Eric and Paul’s encouragement and advice. I’m confident that we possess the skills, the attitudes and the desire to achieve even greater success going forward.’
