The latest holiday inspiration from our award-winning travel agent Joe Teixeira, who heads up Norad Travel Gloucester.
What does a short break mean to you?
The convenience of flights from local airports to a range of European destinations motivates many of my customers, whilst others take advantage of an ever-increasing choice of exciting options in the UK.
Classic theatre productions such as Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera along with exciting new productions such as Annie, featuring the delightful Miranda Hart, ensure London theatre breaks remain eternally popular.
But how about a Gin experience in Beatrix Potter country? Trying out your detective skills on a Murder Mystery Weekend? What about walking in the footsteps of your favourite Games of Thrones characters in Northern Ireland? You'll be amazed at the many experiences available.
European City Breaks
Classic European cities such as Venice and Prague are easily accessible from our local airports and will always provide excellent opportunities for some great city stays. However, alternative destinations are enticing more and more of us as they offer something a little different.
Superbreak have recently launched an Icelandic escape to Akureyi, ideal for a long weekend with a difference. Not on the tourist trail it's a hidden gem in a delightful setting at the head of Iceland's longest fjord. Fly from Cardiff with excursions to key sights included, for only £699 per person.
Expand your horizons
Don't assume if you've only got a few days holiday that you can't get very far for a quick escape. Get your warm weather fix in just 3 hours by heading south to Morocco, and find yourself immersed in culture the moment you step off the plane. Navigate historic quarters filled with winding streets of beautiful architecture, shop in the vibrant, bustling souks or go straight to the coast for palm fringed, sun-soaked paradise.
And city breaks don't have to mean Europe... New York can be reached in just 6 hours, and Cape Town is an excellent option for trying something new. With a clever combination of an overnight flight to a destination with just 1 hour time difference, you can escape our winter gloom and bask in sunshine the minute you land, and return to normality straightaway afterwards with no jet lag.
